About the Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Site Supervisor, Dredge and Dewatering to join our team on a full-time basis. You will be working on a per-project basis on sites across Western Canada, with required on-site work in our Leduc, AB office. 

The successful candidate will oversee personnel and projects while ensuring the workforce and equipment are aptly matched to complete assignments efficiently. You will assist in training and maintaining employees, providing daily supervision, and upholding standards of safety, quality, and productivity. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in scoping work and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, while prioritizing excellent customer service for both external and internal stakeholders.

Your essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead by example and drive all of KBL's safety policies and procedures including personal and team safety contracts
  • Initiate incident notifications & manage on-site activities as required to ensure proper processes are followed
  • Have all applicable documentation readily available on site and be familiar with required information for each specific project
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required
  • Coordinate and oversee all site crew including site operators, labourers, and contractors
  • Arrange for efficient utilization of manpower/equipment/deliveries, etc. as determined by the project schedule
  • Operate and maintain centrifuges, dredges, and affiliated dredging and dewatering equipment as needed
  • Plan and layout jobs from blueprints, drawings, sketches, service manuals, or instructions
  • Conduct pre-work and pre-bid meetings to effectively scope new work
  • Ensure pre-operational checks on equipment and supplies are being conducted
  • Ensure equipment operators are keeping equipment clean, lubricated, and fueled, and general site housekeeping is being maintained
  • Notify supervisors of any required repair work to be done, in addition to deficiencies and/or damages
  • Provide customer service, resolve any concerns, and respond to any customer questions according to company policies and procedures
  • Liaise with the Project Manager to ensure work is being carried out according to the scope of work and bid, or client PO

About You 

To qualify, you are mechanically inclined, with 5+ years of industry-related work experience (oil and gas, pulp and paper, or municipal experience preferred). A valid Class 5 driver's license, and a high school diploma or equivalent are also required for this role.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Excellent supervisory and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in operating excavators and loaders are assets
  • Ability to organize and supervise subcontractors, or several work crews on a complex site
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting a minimum of 55lbs, working in confined spaces, frequent use of ladders, and working at heights
  • Willingness to respond on short notice to Emergency Response calls and worksite problem areas as required 
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite, and Windows

Above all, you are a strong team player with the ability to work both in a team and independently, while being highly organized, with the interpersonal skills to liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
